This client and I share more than just a first name. We also both have a love for 90s rap music and sarcasm.
When Melanie and I began working together she had already successfully lost 70 pounds. That’s incredibly impressive, and she managed to keep it off too.
But Melanie wanted to continue her weight loss and stay injury-free, which had been an issue over the last year.
We set a short-term goal of losing eight pounds and reducing body fat by 3%. At her three-month progress check-in, Melanie hit those exact goals! She is down over two inches in her hips, more than an inch and a half in her waist, and slimmed her thighs an inch as well.
It’s not just aesthetic progress Melanie has worked on, either. Her goal is to do push-ups on her toes and we’ve been working hard and she’s now banging out sets of ten elevated (with proper form) and getting stronger each week.
Melanie’s progress is the result of a consistent effort to make good choices each week with her nutrition and to plan for and complete 2-3 workouts a week. She’s not doing anything extreme or punishing and was able to successfully continue losing weight through the holidays and some changes in her personal life.
Each week when Melanie comes in for her session, we check-in on whether she met her goals for the previous week, we talk about what’s working and where she might be stuck, and we set small, achievable goals for the week ahead.
These small steps and regular accountability have helped Melanie overcome a plateau, remain injury-free and get stronger. Week by week, little by little.
This is what we do with all Individual Training clients at Fitness Evolution. No extreme diets, meal plans or daily intense workouts. We help clients create realistic, sustainable healthy habits and stay accountable to them each week.
Consistency and persistence pay off big over time.
