Spring is finally, finally here and, as you’ve surely noticed, most Clintonville neighbors cannot wait to get outside.
Aside from walking the dogs, there are lots of great places to go here in the “Ville” (and within a short drive) to get some good exercise in.
The best local gem is, obviously, Whetstone Park. You can take a jog through the Park of Roses, play tennis, soccer or baseball, or grab a bike and cycle the trails. There’s plenty to do and plenty of people so this Clintonville Park is sure to boost your energy.
The Olentangy Trail actually runs right into Antrim Park, another lovely local park that I think of as a hidden gem. If you don’t want to walk or cycle there it is just a short drive from Clintonville. Antrim is gorgeous and great for runners as it has a path all the way around the lake.
If you’re a lover of water (and a glutton for punishment) head north to Hoover Reservoir in Westerville. I sometimes find it hard to believe there is this huge, peaceful waterway right in our own Central Ohio backyard. The dam stairs are arguably one of the most popular places for fitness enthusiasts to spend a Saturday morning. You’re in for a kick-butt workout but if you go, pack your patience as this place can get crowded.
For those who prefer a more playful workout, you have to check out the obstacle courses at the Scioto Audubon and Glacier Ridge Metro Parks. Both courses offer plenty of ways to get down and dirty, while having fun and challenging your muscles, too.
There are so many ways to get outside this Spring and Summer and get fit. Whether you want to supplement your gym routine or forego one, check out some of these awesome local spots for a whole new kind of workout.
